Leak detection in roofs, apartments, basements and parking lots

Water infiltration in a building is a very common occurrence. We speak of water infiltration when water penetrates a building and causes inconvenience to the occupants of the site.
Our leak detection techniques are non-destructive and environmentally friendly.
When it comes to roofing, infiltration can be caused by old-fashioned waterproofing, deteriorating joints, blocked drains or the accumulation of moss and leaves on the roof.
(Hence the importance of annual periodic inspections – see paragraph below).
To remedy these problems, our specialists visit the site to investigate the cause of the infiltration using modern methods (fumigants, fluorescent color tracers, flooding, etc.) and treat the problem 24/7, days, nights and weekends all year round.

Bertolit carries out your periodic leak tests in Geneva

Every year, we carry out periodic roof inspections for over 100 buildings in Geneva.
Checking a roof’s state of health is vital to the durability, longevity and maintenance of a building.
We work on both pitched and flat roofs.
During this process, we clean the roof, check drains and manholes.

Technical studies of renovation procedures

Our technical design office is at your disposal to draw up detailed specifications for all your waterproofing work.
We study both small and large projects for waterproofing work on parking slabs, flat roofs, engineering structures, attic terraces and balconies, using surveys, on-site photos and sketches.

We carry out all types of waterproofing work

We specialize in the renovation of bituminous waterproofing, EPDM, PVC membranes, attic insulation and liquid synthetic resin coatings to protect you from the elements and prevent seepage.
We are also trained to diagnose and remediate all waterproofing containing hazardous substances such as asbestos, PCBs, HBCDs and PAHs.
As an ISO 14001-certified company, we use energy-efficient techniques and special ecological materials.

As a specialist in lifelines, we secure your roofs

Working on roofs can be dangerous, even if the slope is shallow, as there are risks of slipping or falling.
That’s why it’s imperative to secure roofs with anchoring devices such as lifelines or suitable guardrails, to ensure safety during inspections and maintenance.

ALL ABOUT SEALING

HOW DO I MAKE A SLAB WATERPROOF?

There are several stages to waterproofing a slab: checking the slopes to ensure that water drains properly, sweeping and shot-blasting the concrete substrate, impregnating the substrate, then applying a single-layer or two-layer bituminous waterproofing complex and, finally, a layer of mechanical protection.

HOW DO I MAKE A ROOF WATERPROOF?

First of all, it's important to carry out a technical study to determine the feasibility of the project. Then, for a flat roof, a vapour barrier needs to be installed, followed by thermal insulation (extruded, polyurethane, mineral), a bituminous membrane and a surface that can be walked on (walkable tiles) or walked on off (gravel).

WHEN SHOULD WATERPROOFING WORK BE DONE?

Most of the time, waterproofing work is done when there is seepage or flooding. However, it's important to remember that prevention is better than cure, and to carry out the work before the problem occurs. A regular annual inspection can detect this type of problem and deal with it before disaster strikes.
